New Aquarium DC Water Pump – Deepwater Aquatics BLDC15

About a year ago I installed a Waveline DC12000 pump in my newly constructed pond. I really liked the pump but the problem was it didn’t last. It appears it over heated or something. I also had a problem when I first bought it which I thought was bad wiring and I got a replacement from the manufacturer. This time only a year later I’m not happy now. So I decided to use my current aquarium pump the Tunze Silence Pro in the pond and get a new pump for the aquarium.

The Tunze Silence Pro has been a pretty good pump for me but its getting noisy now with its age. The aquarium is in the living room and it can create quite a bit of noise so I wanted something a lot quieter.

The video below shows the unboxing of the BLDC15 Water pump:

The video below shows the BLDC15 in action, its the only pump on in the video and I show the flow rates, It pumps the 180 gallon tank and also pumps to a 40 gallon Frag tank:

My old pump was pretty noisy but it did have an issue with the impeller that I found out afterwards. This pump was much quieter however on the top 2 levels it does make a loud enough whining to be noticeable. For this reason I don’t put it up that high. It also could be because the intake is 1.5″ instead of the 2″ its supposed to be. Any rate so far I would recommend this pump. We will see the longevity of it and I will post a followup in the event it doesn’t live up to its potential.

  1. I also wouldn’t recommend this pump either. Instead the pump I have been using for my pond now for many many years is the PondMaster Hy-Drive 4000. It is simply the best one. It’s not too noisy and its very powerful. They last about 3-4 years of constant use before they need to be replaced.
